Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has unleashed a torrent of criticism, asserting that there is a glaring lack of consistency in the selection process for the Black Stars.
Arhinful’s comments come as a pointed observation of the team’s dynamics, questioning the rationale behind player choices and highlighting a potential hurdle in the pursuit of cohesive and effective gameplay.
“Our recent performance especially the friendly matches we played in America it didn’t go well that doesn’t mean tomorrow’s match will not go well. I think the coach and technical men by now have identified the things that we didn’t do well don’t forget that the players that we have called they are not the same players that we called for the previous match,” Arhinful told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com
“That has been our issue there is no consistency in our selection every call up you will see a different set of players we are calling the national team if you do that you will not be consistent in our time this went on but the talent that we had the pool of talent was big so every now and then if Augustine Arhinful comes the next match Tony Yeboah will be at his peak, Ali Ibrahim is at his peak, Kwame Ayew etc.
“If you look at Stephen Appiah’s time there was that consistent call ups for some players the core of the team and they maintained that look at the success of the team at the time going to the World Cup going to the semi finals etc. Currently, we are not seeing that I hope going forward we will look at that if you take Comoros their last five matches they have played you can see consistency the same players they are using same thing can be said of Madagascar national team this is how it is done so we should let consistency work,”
