King Faisal winger, Enoch Morrison has shared that players are sometimes forced into betting because of the poor salaries they receive.
According to him, a lot of players are suffering in the Ghana Premier League due to the meagre salaries they take at the end of the month.
Speaking to Akoma FM, the talented winger said there are times players even struggle to get money for transportation.
“Poor player salaries forces footballers to engage in betting. Many players have little or no support from anywhere. Poor living conditions and low salaries makes things difficult for us. Sometimes transportation money to leave the stadium for our homes after league matches is even a problem,” Enoch Morrison said while asking, “what do you expect the player to do?”
Enoch Morrison added, “Though this is not a justification for players to bet, but these are the underlying factors why players engage in betting. The FA must take a serious look at player salaries to check betting.”
The comments come on the back of the punishment meted out to Ashanti Gold SC and Inter Allies FC after the two clubs were found guilty of match manipulation by the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee.
Both clubs have been demoted to compete in the National Division One League starting next season.
