Manchester United have a target in mind. After a disappointing season marked by the dismissal of Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer and the lack of qualification for the Champions League, the Red Devils want to wipe the slate clean. Erik Ten Hag has been named manager of the team with the ambition of bringing the English club back to the top. To do so, the former coach of Ajax Amsterdam wants to recover one of his proteges. The Dutchman has made Frenkie de Jong his priority to succeed free-party Paul Pogba.

Richard Arnold does not even hide it. Manchester United’s Chief Football Officer was caught chatting with his fans about the midfielder’s transfer: “We are doing everything we can to bring De Jong in and I tell you the money is there for him. As a club we are doing everything we can to get the deal done, the money is there but there are obstacles in our way which I cannot explain”. However, the deal seems complicated. Barça want to recover a large sum to let their nugget slip away, while Frenkie De Jong has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay in Catalonia.

to summarize

Manchester United is going through a pivotal off-season and wants to strengthen after a failed year. The Red Devils and their new coach Erik Ten Hag have made Frenkie De Jong their priority. The Dutch midfielder, however, would like to stay at Barça.
