Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has downplayed concerns over his side’s recent lack of goals from the forward line, insisting that results not who scores remain his primary focus.
Tanko was speaking after Medeama secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 18 clash at the TNA Park on Sunday.
With questions raised about the output of his strikers in recent weeks, the Medeama boss made it clear he is unconcerned, pointing to the collective nature of his team’s approach.
“No, I think we are a team. If the defenders score the goals for us to get what we want, that’s fine,” Tanko said.
He explained that Medeama’s style of play naturally allows players from other areas of the pitch to contribute offensively, particularly from midfield.
“With how we play, our midfielders will definitely get chances. If they make use of them, they will score more goals,” he added.
The win sends Medeama to the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings with 34 points. They are back in action on Sunday, January 11, when they face Young Apostles as the title race gathers momentum
