General Manager of Swedru All Blacks United FC and Executive Council (EXCO) member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Eugene Nobel Noel, has thrown his full support behind the proposed amendment to extend the GFA presidential term limit from two to three terms.
The proposal ; which seeks to align the President’s tenure with that of the Vice-President and other EXCO members has gained widespread backing from football stakeholders ahead of the GFA Congress.
Speaking to GHANAsoccernet.com , Nobel Noel described the move as fair and constitutionally appropriate.
“It is constitutionally proper to increase the term limit to three,” he said. “There’s no sense in EXCO members, including the Vice-President, serving three terms while the President, who is also a key EXCO member, is limited to two.”
He argued that the current arrangement creates an imbalance in the GFA leadership structure and undermines the authority of the President.
Nobel Noel further confirmed that Swedru All Blacks and the majority of GFA members are backing the proposal and will vote in favour of the amendment at the upcoming Congress.
“All Blacks and a majority of members are in complete favour of the proposed amendment and we’ll vote to make the changes,” he stated. “The Association belongs to its members, and we will make our own decisions in the best interest of our investments.”
The amendment will be a key item on the agenda at the GFA’s Ordinary Congress on August 12, 2025. If approved, it will allow a sitting president to serve up to three four-year terms ; a total of 12 years instead of the current eight.
Supporters of the amendment believe it will promote leadership continuity, long-term planning, and fairness in governance within Ghana football.
