Sweden vs Serbia – 09/06/2022

Sweden and Serbia stuck in stalemate

2202

Thursday evening brings us further action from the Nations League and a League B Group 4 encounter between hosts, Sweden, and visitors, Serbia, when the two teams meet at the Friends Arena.

It’s all square for Sweden so far in their Nations League campaign as the hosts have won once and lost once in their opening two games in Group 4, recording a 2-0 win away from home at Slovenia before falling 2-1 at home to group leaders, Norway.

But the hosts have a chance to redeem themselves on Thursday night against Serbia.

Recent results have followed a similar pattern though for the Swedes as the hosts have managed to capture just four wins out of their last nine games overall in all competitions.

But they have also slipped to five defeats as well, so literally anythiung could unfold at the Friends Arena on Thursday evening!

Form at home though has been pretty impressive as Sweden have won 12 out of their last 14 games on home soil, while the two previous meetings against Serbia have seen a win for either side.

Onto Serbia and the visitors have also picked up three points from their opening two games of the group phase of this season’s Nations League as they suffered an opening day 1-0 defeat at home to Norway before bouncing back with a welcome and comprehensive 4-1 rout over Slovenia on home soil.

The manner of Serbia’s recent win should also re-install Serbia’s belief and confidence ahead of their trip to Solna and although they lost to Denmark in a friendly before the start of this season’s Nations League, they have been Serbia’s only slip-ups in their last 11 matches overall.

Within this period, Serbia have collected no fewer than eight wins in the process and this therefore makes the visitors a serious threat to Sweden at the Friends Arena, along with the fact that they have also lost just two out of their previous 13 outings on their travels.

Throw in a further five clean sheets within this period and Serbia become a team that must must be respected ahead of this clash, while the threat of their forward line that comprises the likes of prolific goalscorer, Mitrovic, along with the quality of Jovanovic, Tadic and Jovic, the visitors look a decent prospect for a point here.

Both Sweden and Serbia therefore look evenly matched and a draw could unfold here as a result.
