SuperSport to replace StarTimes as new GPL broadcast right holders

The Ghana Football Association are understood to be in talks with SuperSport to be the lead Broadcast Partner of the Ghana Premier League.

This was after talks between the football governing body and StarTimes hit a stumbling block.

According to reports, the South African TV has shown strong interest and has been looking at the Ghanaian market for a while.

The company already has a strong presence in African football, especially in Nigeria, Zambia, and South Africa.

One of the main reasons talks with StarTimes broke down was money as the GFA is said to be owed over $842,000, according President Kurt Okraku.

As a result, GFA is now looking for a more reliable partner and it appears SuperSport’s production, wider reach, and financial strength make them a strong option.

The Ghana FA is yet to react to the growing speculation.
