Strasbourg vs RC Lens – 11/01/2023

Lens to continue their stellar run of league form in Strasbourg

2159

On Wednesday night, Strasbourg hosts Lens at the Stade de la Meinau as the two teams battle for points at different ends of the Ligue One table.

The home team are in 19th place in the Ligue One standings and in desperate need of a victory. However, they are not too far off safety, as Strasbourg are four points from the safety of 16th position in the table.

A recent seven-game winless league run has played a big role in their current position in the French top-flight table. A 3-2 home defeat by Troyes last time out in Ligue One means that they have now lost three of their previous four league games.

Poor defensive displays have been at the heart of Strasbourg’s recent slump, conceding at least two goals in nine of their last ten matches in Ligue One.

The fact that they have failed to win in nine home games in the French top flight is also a contributing factor to their recent poor run of form.

The visitors are in second place in Ligue One, four points behind league leaders and reigning champions PSG.

Franck Haise’s team is unbeaten in their last seven matches in the French top flight, having recorded six wins and a draw.

Lens’ potent attack has been a big factor in their recent good results, as the visitors have scored at least two goals in four of their last five games in the French top-flight.

The visitor’s away record has not been great, though, as Lens have won just two of their previous six league matches on their travels.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that Lens will record a victory in a low-scoring encounter to add to Strasbourg’s relegation fears.
