On Friday night, Strasbourg and Lyon go head-to-head at the Stade de la Meinau in a game that could prove vital for both team’s seasons.

The home side has endured a poor campaign in the French top flight, as they currently sit in 15th place in the Ligue One table, only outside the relegation zone courtesy of a superior goal difference to 17th place Brest.

However, Frederic Antonetti’s team will head into this clash in high spirits, as they have recorded back-to-back league wins against Ajaccio and Strasbourg.

Strasbourg has also been prolific in front of goal of late, as they have scored at least two goals in five of their previous six outings in the French top flight.

The home team also has a good recent record at the Stade de la Meinau in Ligue One, winning four of their last five games on home soil.

OL’s challenge for a top-six spot in Ligue One was dented last time out as a 2-1 home defeat by Marseille ended a seven-game unbeaten run in Ligue One. The defeat also ended a three-game winning run for Lyon in the French top flight.

Laurent Blanc’s team is now six points adrift of the European spots in Ligue One and needs another victory to get back on track.

Lyon has a decent recent away record in the French top flight, winning six of their previous nine league games, having recorded victories in three of their last four league matches on their travels in a four-game unbeaten run.

OL has also been decent in front of goal of late on their travels in Ligue One, scoring at least two goals in five of their previous seven league matches.
