Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, has hinted at a potential bid for the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Speaking in an interview with Sompa FM in Kumasi, the former Juventus midfielder lamented the lack of opportunities for former players to lead the country’s football governing body.
“Sometimes the legends, the former players don’t get the chance. I have observed that football is run by footballers. It is not about the grammar that you will use. I hope that one of us will one day have the chance to come and lead Ghana football”
Appiah, who captained the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 World Cup tournaments, expressed his willingness to serve and his belief that other former players shared his passion for the game.
“Some of us are very humble…We all want to help”
Appiah’s leadership credentials are well established, having captained both the Black Stars and Italian club Juventus during his playing career.
Since retiring, he has been active in promoting youth development and grassroots football in Ghana, and has also served as a mentor to younger players.
