Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah is confident the Black Stars will be winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana are on a 41-year trophy drought and hope to end the run in Ivory Coast 2024.
The last time the country lifted the trophy was in 1982.
Despite the recent uninspiring performances of the team, Appiah remains positive and sees the upcoming AFCON in January as Ghana’s golden opportunity for glory.
“I am very confident that Ghana can win the Afcon,” he said during the unveiling of the TotalEnergies AFCON trophy at the TotalEnergies Headquarters in Accra, Ghana.
“Today football is played everywhere and that’s why you’ll find it difficult to even play against Comoros,”
“We should believe in ourselves and in the team, they should go out there and represent Ghana the best they can,” he added.
The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to start from January 13, to February 11, 2024.
The Black Stars finds themselves in Group B along with Mozambique, Egypt and Cape Verde.
