Ghanaian teenager Stephen Acquah came off the bench to score a dramatic late equalizer for FC Nordsjaelland in their 2-2 draw with Brøndby IF on Sunday in the Danish Superliga.
The match, held at the Right to Dream Park, was packed with intensity as both sides fought hard for three points.
Brøndby opened the scoring just before halftime through Japanese midfielder Yuito Suzuki, giving the visitors a 1-0 edge at the break.
Nordsjaelland responded strongly in the second half.
Their persistence paid off in the 60th minute when Marcus Ingvartsen slotted home to make it 1-1, much to the delight of the home crowd. But Brøndby quickly regained the lead, with Nicolai Vallys firing them ahead in the 75th minute.
With time slipping away, 18-year-old defender Stephen Acquah was introduced — and he made an instant impact. In the 88th minute, Acquah showed great awareness in the box to grab a late equalizer, salvaging a crucial point for Nordsjaelland.
Acquah, a graduate of the Right to Dream Academy and a recent addition to the squad in May 2024, is quickly proving to be one of Ghana’s exciting young exports.
His goal not only helped Nordsjaelland stay in the race for a top-three finish but also highlighted the club’s continued success in nurturing young African talent.
