St. Etienne made the last ditch attempt on Monday night when it emerged that the son of Ghana legend was on the verge of joining the Premier League side on loan.

The Ligue 1 side have now slapped in a bid in a desperate bid to dissuade the Ghana international from move to England.

Marseille and the Baggies were going over a few details to enable them complete the deal by Tuesday but the French club’s sudden offer has dramatically changed the dynamics of Ayew’s move.

West Brom are is still looking for a striker while St. Etienne have not replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang since he left for Dortmund.

St. Etienne have increased their negotiations for a striker and one of them is Jordan Ayew.

Ayew has always maintained his desire to stay at Marseille but the lack of his playing time could decide otherwise for the striker Ayew’s appearances have been minimal for Marseille this season following a good run of form for French international Pierre-Andre Gignac who has scored 3 goals so far.

The Ghanaian’s last outing for the side was a 90th minute substitute entrance in Sunday’s 1-0 away win at Valenciennes in the French Ligue 1.
