After months of unpaid wages, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation has settled over $600,000 in salary arrears owed to Black Stars head coach Otto Addo and his backroom staff.
The payments bring closure to a long-standing issue that saw the technical team go without compensation since October 2024, despite leading Ghana through major international assignments.
According to official figures, Otto Addo received $420,000, covering both unpaid salaries and other contractual entitlements. His assistants were also compensated – Joseph Laumann was paid $75,000, while John Paintsil received $64,864.
Goalkeepers trainer Abdul Fatawu Dauda was also paid $19,459 while Team coordinator Francis Bugri Tampuli also took home $33,000, covering work from April 2024 to March 2025.
This financial resolution comes after a crucial stretch in which Otto Addo led Ghana in six AFCON qualifying matches between September and November 2025, although the team failed to qualify.
He also guided the Black Stars to emphatic victories against Chad and Madagascar in March as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
