The Ministry for Sports and Recreation has finally paid the Black Queens their long-awaited bonuses from the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The move came shortly after Ghana’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Egypt in Accra on Tuesday.
Each member of the squad received $9,000, rewarding their third-place finish at the continental tournament held in Morocco earlier this year.
The payments were made at the team’s base, Erata Hotel, following the conclusion of their second-leg tie in the 2026 WAFCON Qualifiers.
The Queens’ dominant display over the two legs – 7-0 on aggregate after a 3-0 win in Ismailia and a 4-0 triumph in Accra – ensured their return to Africa’s biggest women’s football stage.
With qualification sealed and financial issues resolved, the Black Queens will break camp on October 29 before reassembling in late November ahead of their high-profile international friendly against England on December 2.
