The Minister in charge of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has applauded MTN Ghana for deciding to support the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
On Thursday, November 3, the Ghana FA and MTN signed a sponsorship deal at the headquarters of the football association.
The deal sees MTN committing to support the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a whopping $2 million.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif commended MTN for the sponsorship as he described it as timely.
“This support is timely and will significantly boost the Black Stars preparations towards achieving our target of going all the way in Qatar” the Minister who is also MP for Yagaba-Kubore shared.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif added, “As I have often said, there is a direct correlation between corporate sponsorship and performance in sports and in this case, the Black Stars.”
The Minister further stressed that it is also important for the huge investment to be put to judicious use so that it will make the desired impact on the team.
