Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that companies investing in sports sponsorship will soon enjoy tax incentives once the Sports Fund Bill is passed into law.
Speaking on the government’s plan to ensure sustainable sports financing, Mr. Adams said the proposed Sports Development Fund will introduce a structured and transparent framework to monitor funding and corporate contributions across all disciplines.
“We’ve not really had a formalised and structured funding of sports,” he explained. “Government’s plan now is to have a sports development fund. The bill will soon be laid in Parliament, and once we have that fund, there will be tracking of funding and support from corporates. Those who fund will also benefit from some tax incentives.”
He emphasized that the policy is designed to motivate private sector participation by ensuring sponsors are recognised and rewarded for their support.
The initiative forms part of a broader government effort to create a sustainable sports ecosystem in Ghana, reducing overreliance on state resources while improving athlete welfare and sports infrastructure nationwide.
