Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif says the Black Stars “have a good future” and are capable of winning trophies in the coming years.
Ghana paraded a team of young players to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the nation’s youngest ever squad at a global tournament.
The West African side were ousted from the first stage of the World Cup, having suffered two defeats – to Portugal and Uruguay, with a win against South Korea.
Despite exiting the group stages of the tournament in Qatar, Mustapha Ussif is quite positive about the future of the team.
“The team is very good and can win trophies for the country in future.” He said during Otumfuo pitch launching in Kumasi.
“Looking at what was exibited in Qatar show clear that we can surprise the world, looking at the players their age 21, 22, 23 and 24 so we have a good future.”
It was the second time Ghana failed to move out of the group stages, having suffered similar fate at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
