SPALLETTI DEMANDS GREATER RUTHLESSNESS AFTER FIORENTINA STALEMATE –

Published: 4 years ago
Series A

After watching his side draw 0-0 with Fiorentina in Florence, Luciano Spalletti spoke positively of Napoli’s display and the contest as a whole.

“It was an open game, played man to man. Fiorentina played with real strength – it was a very physical and aggressive contest. We were good at building possession as the minutes passed, but then our final passes were wayward,” he said.

“The performance was good but we needed to be more decisive in front of goal. We had a sensational chance with [Hirving] Lozano and I think that’s where you have to hit the target – we can’t be missing chances like that.

“The draw is positive because of how it came about – this was a very difficult match. However, I must say that if we had been more clinical in the final phase of play, then we could have won it.”

On a less positive note, Spalletti had this to say about the atmosphere at the Stadio Artemio Franchi: “People were shouting swearwords at me, referencing my mother, for 90 minutes. It’s a shame to be insulted like that in my own city. It was very rude.”
