Southampton Finally Set to Win a Game by Beating Bournemouth

Southampton and Bournemouth will meet in a huge clash at the bottom end of the Premier League table this Thursday evening with the Saints sitting nine points behind the Cherries before the clash at St. Mary’s.

It seems as if Southampton have one foot in the Championship coming into this game, as they sit behind Leicester City in 17th by five points but they can close this gap to two with a win here.

At the same time, they would close the gap on Bournemouth to six points with a victory.

Southampton did manage to secure a stunning draw against the league leaders Arsenal last Friday, but they will be gutted they didn’t leave with all three points after leading 2-0 thanks to a goal inside a minute from Carlos Alcarez and a goal from ex-Arsenal man, Theo Walcott, after 13 minutes.

Duje Caleta-Car scored after 66 minutes to give the club a 3-1 lead, but a sensational Arsenal comeback saw them score twice in the last two minutes of regular time.

It does mean Southampton left with just a point, although they probably would have taken that point before the game if it was handed to them.

The Saints then went on to draw with Manchester United and then Tottenham Hotspur, while also losing to Brentford and West Ham United before defeats from Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

It means the club have won six games and lost 20 times and scored only 27 goals and let in 56 of their own.

Bournemouth head into this game after a stunning 4-0 loss at home to West Ham United where they conceded eight shots on target.

This did, however, come just one week on from their stunning late win away at Tottenham Hotspur.

It means the Cherries sit with 33 points from 32 games and still sit above the relegation zone by just five points.

On the other hand, they come into the clash with the chance to make the gap eight points if they can win and Everton lose.

Worse yet for Southampton, they still have a lot of injuries to deal with heading into this game and they will be without Che Adams in this one.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles can return after his ineligibility to play against Arsenal, while Jan Bednarek faces a late fitness test. Juan Larios, Valentino Livramento and Mohamed Salisu are all out injured.

Forebet predicts a win for Southampton and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
