Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has strongly condemned the violence that broke out during the Division One League clash between Basake Holy Stars and Nations FC at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena in Ayinase.
The Matchday 33 encounter descended into chaos after Nations FC protested a second controversial penalty awarded to the home side.
The protest led to heated confrontations and violence in the stands, prompting Nations FC to abandon the game before full time.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Kofi Adams expressed his disappointment over the incident and called for a more structured approach to football management at the club level.
“Some club managers are clueless about what football is all about,” he said. “What must be done is to have proper education of the club owners, even before the fans.”
He further stressed the need for tougher sanctions on individuals who incite or engage in violence at football venues. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that investigations into the incident are underway.
