Shayibu Abubakari says he was stunned by his transfer to Asante Kotoko after signing a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors.
The 21-year-old right-back completed his medical this week and joins from Karela United ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“It came as a surprise. I kept hearing rumours, but I didn’t expect it,” he said.
Abubakari, known for his energy and overlapping runs, is expected to compete with Lord Amoah for the starting spot, with Emmanuel Kotei still recovering from injury.
He previously featured for Real Tamale United and briefly played in the Czech Republic.
