Following another exciting round of Serie A action, Napoli, Milan, Lazio, Atalanta, Torino and Roma are locked on seven points at the top of the table. At the opposite end of the standings, Monza and Cremonese have yet to pick up a point.

Today, we cover all the key statistics from Matchday 3 of the 2022/23 Serie A season. Let’s start by checking out the results before working our way through the home and away trends, goal stats and standout players.

Lazio 3-1 Inter was arguably the standout result of the round, with the Eagles dispatching the Nerazzurri in the capital. In Turin, Juventus and Roma played out a 1-1 draw.

The biggest shock of Matchday 3 came in Campania, where Salernitana thrashed Sampdoria 4-0. Having narrowly avoided relegation last season, Salernitana have made a promising start to the new campaign.

Home and Away Trends

  • Home wins: 3 (30%)
  • Away wins: 3 (30%)
  • Draws: 4 (40%)

 

The draw was the most common result on Matchday 3, with 40% of the games ending all square. There were also three home wins and three away wins, as Udinese, Torino and Atalanta triumphed on their travels.

  • Both teams scored: 6 (60%)
  • Over 2.5 goals: 5 (50%)
  • Under 2.5 goals: 5 (50%)
  • Over 3.5 goals: 3 (30%)
  • Under 1.5 goals: 2 (20%)
  • Clean sheets: 5 (25%)

 

60% of the Matchday 3 clashes saw both teams score, while 50% produced over 2.5 goals. Thanks to three high-scoring encounters, 30% of the games dished up over 3.5 goals.

It is also worth noting that only 25% of the 20 teams kept a clean sheet last time out. Milan, Atalanta, Salernitana, Fiorentina and Napoli all achieved a shutout on Matchday 3.

  • Boulaye Dia, Salernitana: 1 goal, 2 assists
  • Federico Bonazzoli, Salernitana: 1 goal, 1 assist
  • Pedro, Lazio: 1 goal, 1 assist
  • Rafael Leao, Milan: 1 goal, 1 assist

 

Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia was the standout player last weekend, bagging a goal and two assists in his side’s 4-0 thrashing of Sampdoria. Federico Bonazzoli also scored and assisted in that game.

Meanwhile, Lazio’s Pedro and Milan’s Rafael Leao both registered a goal and an assist. Elsewhere, Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin kept a second clean sheet in as many matches.
