Senior players may have advantage in making Black Stars squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has suggested that senior players in the Black Stars have an advantage of making Otto Addo’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Addo is expected to announce his final squad for the Mundial in the first week of November 2022 as the four-time African champions seek to make an impact in a dreaded Group H that features Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.

A number of new players have been called up into the Ghana squad with just around 2 months to the start of the FIFA World Cup.

Spain-born Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Salisu Mohammed, and Stephan Ambrosius all earned call-ups to prove their worth to merit berths in the Ghana squad.

“The newcomers are talented, but we already have a strong team that qualified for the World Cup, so every position is competitive. Apart from senior players who may have an advantage, I believe no one is guaranteed a place in the squad just yet,” he told Qatari-based news outlet Al Jazeera.

Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Baba Rahman, Daniel Amartey, and Thomas Partey are considered to be among the senior players in the Black Stars squad.
