Antoine Semenyo’s breathtaking strike for Bournemouth against Liverpool has etched his name into Premier League history.
The Ghanaian forward carried the ball 52.4 metres before scoring at Anfield, ranking 10th on the all-time list for solo goal carries since records began in 2015/16. His effort edges Jesse Lingard’s 51.6m run in 2021 out of the top 10.
It also stands as the third-longest solo goal in the league since 2021/22, behind only Taiwo Awoniyi (54.7m) and Anthony Elanga (54.1m) – both scored against Manchester United.
Semenyo’s moment came in the 76th minute of Friday’s season opener, when he surged from his own half, shrugged off Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, before firing past Alisson to make it 2-2.
Though Liverpool rallied to win 4-2, the goal underlined Bournemouth’s counter-attacking danger under Andoni Iraola.
The 25-year-old has now scored four goals from carries since last season ; a mark bettered by only six players in the league and became the first visiting player to net twice at Anfield in the Premier League since Leandro Trossard in 2022.
