Antoine Semenyo is closing in on a major January move to Manchester City, with the Premier League champions now in advanced talks over a deal for the Bournemouth forward.
Sources indicate City have made significant progress in recent days and are increasingly confident of landing the 25-year-old, who has enjoyed an outstanding season with the Cherries.
Semenyo has attracted widespread interest across the Premier League, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea all making enquiries to varying degrees. However, United have cooled their pursuit amid growing belief that the Ghana international is heading to Pep Guardiola’s side, while Chelsea have chosen not to push forward with a deal.
Liverpool are understood to have checked on the conditions surrounding a potential move, though it remains unclear whether they will accelerate their interest following Alexander Isak’s broken leg. Tottenham, meanwhile, are considered outsiders in the race.
Semenyo, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023, has a £65 million release clause that is only active for the first 10 days of January. The clause was included to secure his future when he signed a new contract in July, with the fee expected to drop slightly in the summer.
Bournemouth are aware they could lose their talisman and are reportedly open to negotiations, provided any interested club allows Semenyo to remain with them until the end of the season.
