Renowned Ghanaian scout Ebenezer Sefah has advised Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to work more closely with capable home-based scouts ahead of the World Cup in June.
His call comes after the Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director disclosed that Addo has officially requested reinforcements for his technical team.
Sefah believes strengthening the backroom staff should include experienced local scouts who understand Ghana’s football ecosystem.
According to him, domestic scouts are better positioned to track emerging talents and provide valuable insight into players’ development.
“There are very competent scouts in Ghana who have deep knowledge of the game and the players,” Sefah told Luv FM.
“If the technical team is being strengthened, then local scouts should be considered because they are closer to the talent and understand the system better.”
The scout stressed that tapping into local expertise could give the Black Stars a competitive edge at the global showpiece.
Ghana is expected to fine-tune preparations with high-profile international friendlies scheduled for March.
The Black Stars will face Austria and Germany as part of their build-up to the tournament.
They will then head to Canada, Mexico and the United States aiming for a strong showing on the world stage.
