Ghana defender Kelvin Abrefa says scoring in front of his family in Reading’s third round FA Cup win over Watford on Sunday is something he will take with him for the rest of his life.
The 19-year-old scored an audacious goal as Reading ran out 2-0 winners at home to progress to the next round.
Reacting to scoring his first professional goal and celebrating with his family, the Ghana U-20 revealed he didn’t know he would start the game.
The Italy-born said he called his family to come over to the stadium when he discovered he would start.
“To do it [score] in front of them [my family] as well because I didn’t think I would be starting and after I found out I was starting.
I let them know, [so] they came straight away and then to score in front of them is a sign I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.”
