German second-tier club Schalke have handed Faaris Yusufu a one-year contract extension.
The Ghanaian shot-stopper featured prominently for Schalke 04 II in the just-ended 2024/25 Regionalliga West campaign.
In eight appearances, he managed three clean sheets while conceding 11 goals.
His breakthrough came in the second half of the season following an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Luca Podlech.
Sporting director Raffael Tonello as being quoted by Kicker said: “Faaris has proven himself in the second half of the season following the injury to Luca Podlech.
“He was a key player in decisive games, and his performance played a major role in our survival.”
Faaris will now be looking to build on his form as he eyes a bigger role next season.
