Saudi Arabian club Al Taqadum sign ex-Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu

Saudi Arabian outfit Al Taqadum have completed the capture of former Hearts of Oak midfielder Benjamin Afutu in the ongoing transfer window.

The 26-year-old joins the lower tier side on a free transfer after successful negotiations and passing his medicals.

Afutu has been without a club following the termination of his contract with Egyptian top-tier club Eastern Company SC – nine months after joining the club.

He was linked with a return to Hearts of Oak but the Phobians opted against signing him ahead of the 2022/23 season which commences next month.

He struggled for regular playing time at Eastern Company SC in his debut season where he made only eight appearances for the club in the Egypt Premier League season.

Afutu was a key cog for Hearts in the 2020/21 season, helping the club to the domestic double, thus the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup. He made 29 appearances for Hearts of Oak and scored five goals in the process.
