Both Teams to Score
Denmark’s 2-0 loss away to Northern Ireland raises a few eyebrows, although with the caveat that they’d already qualified for this summer’s tournament in Germany. The Danes had been on a run of seven games without a loss before their defeat to the Ulstermen, winning six and drawing one. On home soil, they’ve gone undefeated in eight, winning seven and drawing one.
Switzerland qualified in second place behind Romania in their group and have scored a rather respectable 10 goals over their last five away games. With Denmark in strong form and the Swiss scoring for fun, Both Teams to Score has the value here.
Friendly match at Wembley, London
TV: Channel 4, Saturday, 7pm
Over 2.5 Goals
England come into their game with Brazil on the back of some great form. Since their exit from the 2022 World Cup at the hands of France, Gareth Southgate’s side have won eight and drawn two of their last 10 games. On home soil, they’ve won all five matches since the Qatar tournament, scoring 15 goals so, even without Harry Kane, England should be getting at least one here.
Brazil, well, they really want to beat England on home turf, something they’ve not achieved since 1995. Selecao aren’t in the best of shape of late, they’ve lost three, drawn one, and won one of their last five but were struggling with injury problems over those games. Now with a full squad, and a front four that will likely be Raphinha, Rodrygo, Richarlison and Vinicius Junior, it’s had to see them not getting at least one as well.
Both sides certainly have the talent and goal scorers among the ranks to get a second too, so we’re backing Over 2.5 Goals in what should be a ding-dong affair.
Vinicius Junior to have 1 or more Shots on Target
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior has been enjoying a great season for Los Blancos, scoring 12 in La Liga as well as three in his five Champions League games. Averaging a whopping three shots per game in both competitions, he’ll more certainly be having a pop, especially considering that the weakest link in England’s side is their goalkeeper.
Friendly match at the Groupama Stadium, Lyon
TV: Viaplay, 8pm
Over 2.5 Goals
Certainly the game of the night, France host their oldest of rivals Germany in Lyon. The sides have met twice over recent years with Germany winning 2-1 at home in 2023 with France beating them 1-0 at the 2021 Euros.
The hosts are in the better form of the pair, they’ve won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five and that lose was the aforementioned loss in 2023. On home soil, they’ve won all five of their games since the World Cup, scoring a mammoth 25 goals, with 14 of them coming against Gibraltar, but still, 11 goals over four games is still impressive.
Germany have won two, drawn one and lost two over their last five, scoring nine while on their recent away games have scored nine as well. We should be seeing plenty of goalmouth action here, so we’re backing Over 2.5 Goals.
Kylian Mbappe to Score
Kylian Mbappe has scored at least one in six of his last 10 games for France and he scored at least two in five of those matches. He’s just incredible. He’s faced Germany four times over his career and is yet to score, we reckon that’ll be changing on Saturday night.
