Sannie Daara suggests ways to prioritise player welfare in Ghana Premier League

Former Ghana Football Association communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has suggested a number of ways to help improve the financial renumeration of local players in the Ghana Premier League.

Sannie’s comments come after two-time Ghana Premier League winner Vincent Atinga demanded a wage cap for local players, whilst stating that his pay was inadequate to purchase a car for himself.

While speaking on TV3 Sports Station, the former GFA Communications Director said.

“All the forces in the country, as part of their recruitment drive, employ sports people. As part of it in suggesting that let’s reserve a quota for players in our league so that apart from the salaries they get from their clubs they can get salaries from these state institutions. Crucially, when they are done playing, they can go back to some careers they had so they can also have pensions. That’s why we have our players leaving this country to go to Vietnam.”

Sannie’s assertion comes as a wake up call to the current GFA administration.
