Forward Samuel Atta Kumi netted a hat-trick in Gold Stars’ 3-0 away win over Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League.

The Miners’ impressive performance secured them the top spot on the league table after a crucial away win at the Sogakope WAFA Park on Sunday.

Atta Kumi struck twice in the first half, scoring in the 15th and 45th minutes, giving the visitors an advantage before the half-time break.

He completed the hat-trick in the 47th minute, sealing the victory for the visitors and earning them all three points.

New signing Nwafor Lucky had an opportunity to score for the Lions, but in-form goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi made a crucial save, preserving his clean sheet.

The Miners now have 32 points, leading the league table after the first round of the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

They will kick off the second round as they prepare to face Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Accra Lions, after three consecutive defeats against Hearts of Oak, Dreams FC, and Gold Stars, have dropped to the relegation zone with 13 points. They will host Medeama SC in their next fixture.
