FC Samartex 1996 continued their impressive home form with a comfortable 2–0 victory over Nations FC at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi on Sunday, as Matchweek 20 of the Ghana Premier League unfolded.
The Timber Giants began the contest on the front foot and were duly rewarded in the 39th minute when Christian Agyenim Boateng calmly dispatched a penalty after sustained pressure inside the Nations FC area.
The goal gave Samartex a deserved advantage heading into the halftime break.
The hosts wasted no time after the restart to double their lead. Just two minutes into the second half, Kwaku Owusu finished clinically to make it 2–0, effectively putting the contest beyond the visitors and sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
Nations FC attempted to mount a response but found it difficult to break down a disciplined and well-organised Samartex defence that remained resolute throughout the afternoon.
Samartex controlled large spells of the game, limiting their opponents to few clear-cut chances and seeing out the contest with relative comfort.
The victory extends Samartex’s unbeaten home run this season and underlines their growing momentum as the second round of the campaign gathers pace. For Nations FC, the defeat compounds their away-day struggles, leaving them without a win on the road after nine league trips this season.
