FC Samartex head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, is optimistic about his team’s chances in their upcoming CAF Champions League first-round preliminary match against Victoria United in Cameroon.
Reflecting on a recent goalless draw with Togo’s ASKO de Kara, Amadu praised his players’ defensive efforts: “We defended very well, and our transition was good. They’re a tactically sound team, so we were cautious.”
While acknowledging the limited scoring opportunities, Amadu emphasized the team’s consistent progress: “We’re teaming up consistently, which is very positive. Our first match was a good result, and we’ll build on that for Cameroon.”
The first leg of the qualifiers will take place in Cameroon on August 18 with the return leg coming off a week later.
If successful, Samartex will face either ASGNN of Niger or Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic in the second round, set for September 13-22.
