Ex-Ghana International Sam Johnson has called on Black Stars coach Chris Hughton to widen up his monitoring of local players to the lower tiers of Ghana Football.
Hughton was appointed as the Black Stars coach by the country’s football governing body after Otto Addo stepped down.
He assured Ghanaians his commitment to watching matches on the local scene to consider such players in future call-ups.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion was spotted at some venues of the Ghana Premier League monitoring players.
This initiative has been well welcomed by numerous of Ghanaian but former Black Stars player, Johnson believes the coach should extend his scouting net to lower division to attract good players.
“Everybody wants to bring his player to Hearts or Kotoko or the big cities but those that we are not expecting them to be there, they are now controlling the league.
“So we need to go there and bring them also because the talent is all over not only in Accra or Kumasi or the big cities,” Johnson said.
The Black Stars will bounce back in action in June against Central African Republic in an AFCON qualifier.
