Telegraph Journalist Sam Dean has jumped into the defense of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey following claims from Arsenal fans that the player is underperforming.
Gunners supporters are unhappy with the output of the Black Stars player in recent games and was compounded by the club’s 4-1 defeat by Manchester City.
Speaking in a discussion on the current form of the Ghana talisman, the Telegraph journalist said he won’t be surprised if the player has been playing with an injury.
“Thomas Partey has dropped off a cliff in the past few games. He’s forgotten how to play football in the same way, and watching him against City on Wednesday was bizarre.
“I don’t know about his fitness and I’ve not asked anyone, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was carrying something,” Dean said on the Arsenal Beat Podcast.
Arsenal are second on the English Premier League table with 75 after playing 33 matches.
Their next match is against under-fire Chelsea side on Tuesday.
