Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu says AS Monaco must respond with a win when they face Galatasaray in their next UEFA Champions League fixture.
The centre-back delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday night despite scoring an own goal, earning the Man of the Match award as Monaco drew 2–2 away to Pafos FC in Matchday 5 at the Alphamega Stadium.
Monaco let a two-goal lead slip, a result Salisu believes should serve as a wake-up call ahead of the crucial trip to Istanbul.
“This is a big lesson for us. We need to defend better in such games at difficult venues, especially at set-pieces,” he said after the match. “We knew Pafos were always going to be a threat. We also needed to ensure we took our opportunities at the other end. We’re still in the competition, but we must go to Galatasaray and get the three points.”
Salisu, 26, has now featured four times in the Champions League this season. He has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Monaco, scoring once.
