Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is mourning the loss of his grandfather, Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, who passed away on Monday morning.

The Egyptian international’s uncle, Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, confirmed the news and requested prayers for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased.

Salah, who featured for Liverpool in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, is now doubtful to face Sunderland in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The winger has been a key player for the Reds this season, but his availability for the upcoming fixtures is uncertain following the personal loss.

Funeral prayers are scheduled to be held at the Grand Mosque of Musa in Nagrig, Salah’s hometown, where residents and members of the local community are expected to gather to pay their respects.

Tributes have poured in for Salah from fans and fellow players, with many expressing their condolences on social media.
