Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Sadiq made a stellar start to the Dutch Eredivisie season, scoring the winning goal in AZ Alkmaar’s 1-0 victory over Almere City FC on Saturday.
Sadiq’s decisive strike came in the 4th minute, as he expertly finished a swift counterattack with a right-footed shot from the center of the box.
Despite being substituted in the 57th minute, Sadiq’s early goal proved to be the difference-maker in a match marked by disciplinary issues.
AZ Alkmaar’s Maxim Dekker received a red card in the 18th minute, while Almere City FC’s Baptiste Guillaume and Ricardo Visus were sent off in the 34th and 79th minutes, respectively.
AZ Alkmaar will look to build momentum as they face NEC Nijmegen in their next league fixture on August 17.
