Critics rain in the interview granted by Cristiano Ronaldo to Piers Morgan. It is this time the new generation which takes for its rank.
“It seems that young players don’t care”
Erik ten Hag, Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United in distress… Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with journalist Piers Morgan has been buzzing for a few days. The outcry aroused by the resounding declarations of the Portuguese striker is such that the Mancunian club felt obliged to react… and to consider terminating his contract. If only the 37-year-old had nothing more to say… Ready to swing on Lionel Messi, the Lusitanian international this time focused his criticism on the new generation at the Red Devils, according to him not up to it. “I really thought everything would have changed after 13 years. But then I was surprised – in a bad way. Everything was the same. It seems that the young players of the new generation don’t care.

“I am an example”
According to him, only a few teammates stand out. “Diogo Dalot for sure, he will have a great career with longevity. Also Martinez and Casemiro. But yes, Dalot is a top professional.” And to take as an example his career and his longevity, not without a touch of ego which characterizes him so well. “I’m not one to give advice because I prefer to be an example. Because I am an example. I’m there every morning and I do the same thing. I’m probably the first to arrive and the last to leave. I think the details speak for themselves. That’s why I say I like to lead by example. In all the world championships, the youngest now are not the same as my generation. But you can’t blame them because it’s part of life.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, currently focused on his participation in the World Cup in Qatar with the 2016 European champions, promises to be explosive and may help settle scores.
