Global football agency Roc Nation Sports International (RNSI), founded by Jay-Z, has officially entered the African football sceneand Ghana is already on the map.
The agency has signed Ali Umar, a teenage central midfielder from Division One League side Koforidua Semper Fi FC, as part of a select group of rising stars from across the continent, including players from Nigeria, Guinea, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and The Gambia.
RNSI says the move is part of a wider strategy to “nurture elite football talent” and provide long-term support to young African players. The company will work closely with Ghanaian football consultant Sakibu Nuhu as it establishes roots in the country.
Ali’s signing is a big moment for Semper Fi; a club known for its youth development and rising reputation in Ghana’s lower-tier football. His inclusion signals Roc Nation’s interest in talent beyond traditional football powerhouses.
Nathan Campbell, RNSI’s Head of Global Football Recruitment, said, “Africa is full of untapped talent. We’re partnering with local networks to help these players grow on and off the pitch.”
Roc Nation, which represents top stars like Vinícius Jr and Gabriel Martinelli, is also bringing on Joseph Narbi, a winger from Benab FC, as part of its Ghana-focused talent group.
