Manchester City midfielder Rico Lewis has praised Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo for settling quickly into the squad following his high-profile move to the club.
Lewis reflected on Semenyo’s debut performance, which came just hours after his £64 million transfer from AFC Bournemouth was confirmed on Friday, January 9.
The Black Stars attacker marked his first appearance in City colours with a goal and an assist.
His contributions helped Pep Guardiola’s side cruise to a commanding 10-1 victory over Exeter City in the FA Cup fourth round.
Semenyo provided the assist for one of the two goals scored by Lewis, who was later named Man of the Match.
“It’s not a surprise for us because everyone has seen how good of a player he is in the Premier League.” Lewis told the BBC.
“Everybody wanted him, there’s a reason for that and he’s shown that today. It feels like a seamless transition into the team” Lewis said.
Semenyo could be in action again when City face Newcastle United at St James’ Park in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday, January 13.
