Central Region Football Association chairman, Robert Otieku Duncan says the priority of the ‘Catch them Young Refereeing’ policy is to get a Ghanaian representation at a FIFA World Cup.
The intiative was launched two years ago by the Ghana FA to identify and educate talents between the ages of 13-16.
The young referees officiate the juvenile league matches for experiences with the aim of progression to the Division One, Ghana Premier League, continental and global assignments.
Mr Duncan visited the training ground of the rookies in the Mfantseman District and left some encouraging words.
“I was overwhelmed by the number of boys and girls who keep showing interest in the FA flagship program and commended the District Chairman and the instructors for their great job,” Mr Duncan told the referees.
“The priority of the policy is to get a referee officiate at the FIFA World Cup in not too distant future.” He added
He admonished the young boys and girls to be disciplined and punctual at training sessions.
The Mfantseman district contributed two Catch Them Young Referees at this year’s KGL U-17 Champions League in Accra.
