The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has cautioned referee Mohammed Awal for sending off Liberty Professionals player Isaac Sackey in their Week 19 match against Edubiase.
After careful study of the report submitted by the GFA match review panel, the executive committee has approved of the report on the above match as follows;
1.That your decision that led to the expulsion of player Isaac Sackey (No.27) of Liberty Professionals for violent conduct was too harsh.
2. That the player’s action should had been interpreted as “reckless†instead of violent conduct.
3. Referee Awal is therefore cautioned and warned that a repeat of such a mistake would attract severe sanctions from the football association.
