Yan Diomande has thanked RB Leipzig for helping him secure a move to Real Madrid, describing his switch to the Spanish club as a childhood dream that has finally become reality.
Real Madrid announced the signing of the Ivory Coast winger on Thursday, confirming that he had agreed a long-term contract running until the summer of 2033.
Diomande said goodbye to Leipzig supporters in a video message published by the German club’s account on X. His farewell was reported by Spanish newspaper AS.
“I am extremely grateful to RB Leipzig. The club and its management believed in me a year ago, even though I had only played a few matches as a professional. They gave me their trust and allowed me the opportunity to prove my abilities at the highest level,” he said.
The 19-year-old said his time at Leipzig had helped him establish himself in one of Europe’s leading leagues, earn recognition with the Ivory Coast national team and represent his country at the World Cup.
“I managed to establish myself in one of the best leagues in Europe, earn a place in the Ivory Coast national team and represent my country on the biggest stage in world football, the World Cup,” Diomande added.
“None of that would have happened without RB Leipzig, which is why I will always be grateful to the club.”
Diomande also paid tribute to Leipzig’s leadership for enabling the transfer to Real Madrid while he was still under contract.
“Moving to Real Madrid is my childhood dream becoming a reality. I am even more grateful to the management of RB Leipzig because they made this move possible, even though my contract with the club was still valid,” he said.
The winger reserved particular thanks for Leipzig’s supporters, praising the backing he received from the moment he arrived.
“To the fans, thank you for your incredible support from the very first moment. Your passion, your belief in me and your constant encouragement mean more to me than words can describe. I will always be grateful for the love you have given me,” he said.
Diomande’s departure marks the beginning of a new stage in his career at Real Madrid, where his contract will keep him at the club until 2033.
“Today, a new chapter in my career begins. Leaving is never easy, but I am excited about what lies ahead, and I will always remember my time at RB Leipzig with pride,” he said.
“This club will always have a special place in my heart, and I will continue to follow its journey closely. And who knows? Perhaps we will meet again one day in the Champions League. Thank you for everything.”
The move brings to an end Diomande’s spell with Leipzig, the club he credited with giving him the chance to develop and perform at the highest level before completing his dream transfer to Real Madrid.
