Real Madrid will look to make it two wins from two in La Liga when they host Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, in a match postponed from the opening round of the season.
It will be a second competitive league fixture for Real Madrid under new manager Jose Mourinho, who began his tenure with a late 2-1 victory against Espanyol on Saturday. However, despite Mourinho’s strong personal record against Real Sociedad, his side’s defensive form provides a potential concern after conceding in each of their past eight league matches.

Real Madrid have won their past six La Liga meetings with Real Sociedad. That is their best winning run against the Basque club since February 2018, when they recorded seven consecutive victories.

Mourinho has never lost in six La Liga matches against Real Sociedad, winning five and drawing one. The only side against whom he has managed more league games without defeat is Espanyol, with an unbeaten run of seven matches comprising five victories and two draws. He has also avoided defeat in six league meetings with each of four other teams.
The match therefore presents two contrasting challenges for Mourinho: extending his unbeaten record against Real Sociedad while repairing a Real Madrid defence that has repeatedly failed to keep opponents out.
