Real Madrid fans pay tribute to Ronaldo during Espanyol clash

Footage of a classy show of support for Cristiano Ronaldo on the part of the Real Madrid faithful has come to the fore on Saturday afternoon.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops are of course currently locked in action.

In the knowledge that a solitary point will secure for them yet another Spanish top-flight title, Los Blancos have welcomed Espanyol to the Bernabeu, for a La Liga clash.

Inside the opening ten minutes of action, though, the action on the pitch was forced to take a momentary back seat.

This came as the home support in attendance in the Spanish capital came together to belt out a collective chant of ‘Cristiano’, in tribute to 5-time Ballon d’Or winner and club icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

This of course comes after the Portuguese and partner Georgina Rodriguez were forced to deal with the tragic passing of their newborn twin son last week:

Rodrygo at the double

Turning attentions back towards the scoreline on Saturday, as things stand at the Bernabeu, Real have positioned themselves perfectly to spark jubilant celebrations across the Spanish capital on the back of the full-time whistle.

This comes with Los Merengues currently in possession of a 2-0 advantage, early in the 2nd-half of action.
