RC Lens Sporting Director Jean-Louis Leca has described new defensive recruit Samson Baidoo as “a leader with Champions League pedigree” after the club wrapped up his signing from Red Bull Salzburg.
The 21-year-old Austrian-Ghanaian centre-back penned a five-year deal with Lens, turning down Premier League offers in favour of a Ligue 1 switch.
“Samson was our priority to strengthen our defense. At 21, he already has nearly 120 matches, including 16 in the Champions League,” Leca said. “He’s a natural leader. His talent, determination and maturity match exactly what we look for.”
Baidoo is expected to slot straight into the heart of Lens’ defence and has been handed the No.6 jersey for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
