Former Black Stars striker Raphael Dwamena who tragically passed away during a football match last year is set to be laid to rest on Friday in Accra.
The funeral proceedings will include laying in state at the Adjiringano Astro Turf followed by a private burial.
Dwamena’s untimely demise occurred in November 2023 during a match between KF Egnatia and KF Partizani in the Albanian top flight.
The tragic incident took place during the 23rd minute as he collapsed.
All attempts to revive him proved futile, and he passed away while being transported to the hospital.
Dwamena’s unexpected demise sent shockwaves throughout the football community, with profound impact, especially in his homeland of Ghana.
Despite facing challenges with a heart problem since 2017 and playing with a heart detector, the 28-year-old continued to showcase his talent, becoming the leading scorer in the Albanian league before his tragic passing.
He made his debut for Ghana in 2017, scoring in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.
